What is a good weight to start with? I just started this freetrainer.com fitness program. I'm about 185 lbs. 5'9". The first two exorcises they given me are Bent Over Barbell Rows and Good Mornings. I haven't lifted any weights in about 3 years.
Also, what is the best way to obtain a max? And which is better a One rep max or a 3 rep max?
Good advice, Raven. I want to add one more thing. Don't worry about any max lifts until you have conditioned your muscles to respond to your current routine. If you start off with max lifts right away and your muscles aren't used to that kind of resistance, its almost a guarantee that you'll walk away with some sort of injury, if you can walk at all. Wait for about 6-8 weeks and then carefully do your max lifts then.
