hello,
I hope you can help me...I need to loose weight. I work out 6 days a week, lots of cardio and some wieghts. My question is how much I should eat...my profile tells me I should do Total Calories - 2184 as a max. How much less should I do??? I generaly don't do more then 1500....please help meeeeeeeeee...I see some changes in my body but I am still FAT!!! I have been working out since 2/1/04 :)

Maybe you're overdoing the cardio? As far as the calories, FT's recommendation is just a guide...and by no means should you take it face value. Besides your calories, are you eating frequently? (How are you consuming those 1,500 calories?)

Give it some time also since you only started 1-1/2 months ago. Good luck!

am: cereal with milk and a toast about =200 cal
1/2 am: 1 fruit about =100 cal depends on what fruit!
lunch: a salad or a low cal meal about =200-300 cal
1/2 pm: energy bar or a fruit =100 cal
dinner: something light depends on the mood =200-300 cal
late pm: milk or cheese =50-100 cal
I guess my cal. intake is between 1000-1200 per day, is this too little? I do about 30 min of cardio 6 x per week and at least 4 days I add weights taking turns for lower and upper body. the days I don't do weights i do more cardio or a kick boxing class...I really want to loose 30 lbs please tell me what I could improve on, I am looking to loose at least 1 lbs per week.:big_smile:

You are taking in very little protein, no veggies, and no EFA's. Without knowing much more about you, you have no profile, my guess is your metabolism has slowed to a crawl as you are probably not taking in enough food.(especially the right kind). You need a more solid meal plan, lean proteins at each meal, fibrous carbs, and some EFA's.

this is confusing, I eat 1200 cal, then do I need to burn more then that per day?
how should I be eating, please give me some ideas, I am willing to do anything to loose this weight! I have tried everythig, south beach, atkins etc etc etc, this time I will do it the right way and with exercise. i don't drink pop (soda) is there anything else I should be staying away from? I do usually drink 3-4 cups of tea per day, no sugar, and only one cup of decaff during the week days. please help meeeeeeeee...:)

Re-read my above post. You say you will try anything. This is what works, and is healthy. You already found out "diets" do not work apparently. A "diet" per sey is something you can never stay with. It has to end some time. Good eating habits on the other hand are a lifetime change, and will give you the results you desire and and a healthy body to boot. Do a search for my post "grocery list for a bodybuilder". Choose from the foods in it. What is your bodyweight now? The first thing to do is incorporate these foods in your diet in place of what you are eating. The energy bar for instance, that will do nothing for you. You need lean proteins and fibrous veggies(good green veggies). Your breakfast is not the best, you need some fibrous/starchy carbs here for fuel, like oatmeal, and some protein like eggs and turkey bacon. And your fruit snack, though much fruit is healthy, again you would be better off with some lean proteins and veggies. With your dinner, throw in some EFA's, like a tbsp.of flax oil or fish oil caps. Making these changes will be a great start. Will boost your metabolism(more fiber, cannot possibly turn to fat), make you feel more full also.

THANKS bb1fit, you are the best...I will follow this plan and I know I will be able to loose this 30 lbs, right now I am @ 165, I am Latina so my bones are a little big, I will feel like a super model @ 135.
