Hi, me and my training partner do statics and negatives after we fail in every workout until we can barely do negatives any more. I've read that nagatives can be damaging to the muscle in the long term. Is this true, and should i stop?

When you are doing negative or static training you'll hurt the muscle fibres a lot more since it gets a lot more intense and concentrated.
It's a great way to build up a lot of strength very fast but as you know, the muscle need time to recover. No, don't push your muscles to the limits in every work out.
Damaging in long term? Not if you respect the recuperation/recovery time.

I'm a silly newbie. Can I ask what you mean by negative?

Negatives are sort of a reverse lift. You don't focus as much (or at all) on lifting the weight as you do bringing it down.
The idea is to have a friend help you lift the weight up, then as slow as you possibly can lower the weight to the start position with your mucsles tensed. Rinse, lather, repeat.
I found these were great for building strength.
-------------- - Its never about how much you can lift, or how many reps you do. Its just about doing it, and doing it right.
