Ok I have been going to this boxing gym to train for a while I've been going for about 4 days and I was talking to one of the trainers their who is setting me up on a schedule...I asked him weather I should lift weights or not while training for it...He said he wouldnt recommend it because im not a heavyweight and weight would be against me and make me slower....I told him I wanted to build muscle and cut a little fat he said that. That would come with the schedule he would set me up on and sparring/road work/hitting the heavy bag w/ weight gloves would be enough along w/ numerous exercises.

Anyone got any comments about this?

You have to decide which is your priority - being more muscular or being a smaller, faster boxer. If you are not planning on boxing pro, you may want to keep up some lifting.
You will cut fat and muscle with a heavy boxing schedule just because you are going to burn a ton of calories.

Im very much satisfied with my size at the moment (although a little bit mad because my pants are getting way to tight on me).....Im at 160 and I feel really good...Id like to cut down the fat and just have that "muscular" build at my weight.

if it a serious boxing gym, I`d say try it out...

The trainging will make you more lean and from that point you can start adding some weight training.

I`m a huge fan of martial/boxig training (my style I guess)

You hit it right on the money.....My regimen will look something similar to this

Monday-Run about 2 miles w/ weighted vest
Tuesday-Abdominal/chest/heavy bag training
Wednesday-Sparring
Thursday-Jump rope/Spar
Friday-2 mile run
Saturday-Abdominal/chest training

Im kind of skeptical because thats alot of cardio and I dont want to lose any muscle just get leaner....I figure this will do me good because it will get me that ripped lean look im going for and then when I lose the fat I can bulk up again and should be able to put it on (and make it more noticeable) than before....

Just eat a lil more protein, so that you don't burn muscle and loose it.........give it a try talk a lil break, you might be surprised

...I have friends that practice martial arts and they look really good but mostly their training consists of running(lots - distance and sprint), push-ups, pull-ups, skipping rope, abs.

But it`s a really intensive, similar to what Arnold describes in his books, when he used to workout with his friends in the forest.
