Do you guys drink it ?

I heard that`s a good supplement to your diet. I`m thinking of drinking it more often but my problem is that I hate hot drinks is it ok to let it sit and cool down and then just "chug it down ". My concern is if its nutrition value decreases while sitting,I don`t think it should.

I did hear green tea is excellent for you and i dont think it should change the nutritional benefits at all if you let it cool. you could probably even make a bunch of it and put it in the fridge. Then you could drink it as needed so you wont have to wait for it to cool cup by cup.

Green tea is loaded with antioxidants. Not only that, but studies have shown that green tea exerts significant protective effects against cancer. Especially so of those that effect the digestive tract. Women may be especially interested to note that in a scientific test results it was show women who consume green tea saw their risk of colon cancer drop by 33%, pancreatic cancer by 47%, and for rectal cancer by 43%. Men also saw their risks fall.

tea appears to counteract the genetic damage that triggers cancer, and to induce abnormal cells to undergo cell death. It also helps to prevent cancer cells from producing the chemicals they need to grow their own blood vessels. (J Nutr 2002; 132(8):2307-11).

Letting it cool will make no difference. I personally have been drinking green tea for years.

Another benefit of green tea is that it helps to curb your appetite a bit. I usually have a cup of green tea in the
late afternoon, about an hour after my workout, and it helps to keep me out of the fridge. Iced green tea is pretty good too, although I need to add some Splenda to it.

The bad thing is, it has caffeine. There haven't been enough studies done on the decaf version to know if it's benefits are the same. Since I have been decaffinated for a couple years, I hate to go back.

The caffeine in Green Tea though, is no where near the amount in a cup of Java.
My congrats to you Azredhead with no caffeine. I drink the tea all the time, and I also drink black leechee tea, as it is a good purifier for the blood. Some times I mix the two.

I read that decaffinated tea lacks some of the qualities of caffineated. I cannot state why right now, but I have read that, and not too long ago. Have no facts to back that up right now. I do not do caffine either, haven't had a cup of coffee in 15 yrs., or even drink a soda. But the caffine in a cup of tea does not bother me in the least. I do drink it early though, usually have a cup no later than about 2:00pm.

I just recently read something too. I'm thinking it was in my M&F Hers, or Body & Soul. But it did say that enought research ahdn't been done yet on the decaf version. I used to bring a big mug of peppermint tea with me each morning, maybe I will try the green tea and see if it bothers me.

i had some green tea from a gallon that a friend bought from a natural herb store. it was cold and had a cup, then i got up from my seat for another cup. before i left the little meeting she had, i took my last cup.
i enjoy those 3 cups, not too sweet which it was even better.

There are many varieties of green tea, I especially like Golden Green by Traditional Medicianals and the Peach Green by Alvita. Both are bought at health food stores by the way, I would not buy Lipton!! LOL...May be great, but giant companies like that that enter a market to make more money just rub me wrong. So, I opt for health food store brands. Yogi (not the bear), is also a good brand.

bb1 I don't understand your statement.

"but giant companies like that that enter a market to make more money just rub me wrong."

Why else would anyone enter any market?

By the wording, that is an excellent point. The context of what I meant though was they mass produce any product if they see a nickle to be made, not really caring about the product, thus cutting corners in the production of it. This may or may not be true in Liptons case, it is just how I approach these things. I have been drinking green tea since 1995, and been buying it in bulk or bags from health food stores. Lipton was not making any green tea at that time at all. Now that it has become big news, dollars involved, they are making it. This is what rubs me wrong.
