Doing your cardio first thing in the morning theoretically should be good for you. On an empty stomach. See, your body is depleted of glycogen, so for the body to make glucose, with the absence of carbs, therefore it should turn to fat to burn to produce needed glucose. I would take in some BCAA's for assurance against it going to muscle tissue first. This way, if the body "sees" a large amount of BCAA's in the bloodstream, it thinks it already has broken down muscle tissue, and starts reverting to fatty acids instead. Your length of time is really dependent on your diet, but with proper training and diet, you are probably looking at six to eight weeks.
