I read that before you start weight lifting you should first get the muscles warm. What is a good way to do this? After weight training should I follow with arobic exercise? I do not have access to a gym......HELP (I need to lose weight) ~Deb~

============ Quoting from ravenwolf:
Well for me it is 5 minutes on the stair stepper or jogging in place just to get the blood pumping. Following weight lifting with cardio is a really good way to go. ============= O.k. then I guess I will run in place.... thanx for your reply! :) ~Deb~

You can achieve this however you like. A little light cardio as ravenwolf says works, or you can use the weights, very light sets of the muscle you are going to work to warm up. I prefer the weight version, but it is what I like. Then I do my cardio when needed following weight training when glycogen is depleted pretty well. That way I have more strength for my weight training, as cardio can sap a bit of your strength.

I, too, use light sets to warm up whichever muscle group I'm using. I generally pyramid up, especially when doing heavy lifts. I'll do 5 reps with maybe 10% of my 1RM, then 4 with 20% and so on until I hit whatever weight I'm going to be using.
