I am trying out a high fat, low carb and sugar diet, and got to thinking if I will be able to make any mass(lean muscle only) gains with it. I am 5'9 188lbs and 24 yrs old. I eat about 2400 calories with this diet. Most of my foods are Meats, Eggs, fruits and veggies, and my only Carbs (low GI)are Brown rice and Oats (old fashion kind with no sugar, only strawberries)
My nutrients on this diet are:
Protien: 191g
Carbs: 98g
Fat(no trans):127g

I have a high body fat % and wish to drop it down some without sacrificing gains. I do not do very much cardio, other than work (factory work, moderate to high activity) maybe 3 20 mins of fast paced walking, and work out 3 times a week, training a different body part a day. This will be my second week on my diet so far. (with minimal cheating: a diet pop every now and again)

In the beginning you'll be able to gain some lean muscle mass since your body will use the reserves in your body to build with.

BUT the most important thing is that with your weight training and your diet, you'll be able to get rid of some fat WITHOUT losing much of your excisting muscles.

You are doing fine. Please keep us posted with your results.

I'm not entirely sure. Sounds odd, but I do crave something, but I think it is my caffine addiction. LoL. I used to drink up to 7 or 8 pops a day, all caffinated sodas. (pepsi). Now that I am down to no caffine (with a cheat every now and again) I crave pop I think. Every time I get near somebody drinking some, I start wanting it badly.

Will keep posted my results.
