I've recently hired a personal trainer to guide me in the right track to gaining muscle, but I don't know if his aproach is a slow one-he's not realy telling me to lift heavy yet, but to do a warm-up cardio exercise for 10 minutes, then some stretching, some good form on the exercises-but as faras working out with heavy weights or designing a workout routine-nothing yet. He says I don't really have to lift heavy to gain muscle, btw he also changed my diet a bit. Oh, well, maybe is the way they train-I was expecting to et to the heavy lifting exercises and all that stuff-but I ended up like a beginner-start from zero again. Is his aproach too slow? He says building muscle is harder than losing fa, so it would take me about 12 weeks to gain 10lb of lmusle-is taht true? Or could it be done faster? Thanks

You are lucky to gain 10 lbs of solid muscle ina year, unless you are a beginner, in which case you may gain quickly at first.
If you are not a beginner, your trainer shouldn't start you as one. Tell him your lifting experience, these are your training sessions, get what you desire from them.
The cardio warmup is a good idea, but attitudes about pre-stretching have changed. tell him you would rather do a light warm-up set for each exercise and stretch after your workout. If you need some research to back that up look for gatormade's post about stretching )I think it is in the powerlifting forum).
If you are not new to lifting and you are sure of your form, he should let you go heavier, as long as it is controlled. You have to challenge your muscles to make them grow.
