I'm having a problem with my first meal. I get up around 7am and go to the gym about 10:30 Should I have breakfast and my protein shake before work out? as of now I'm Eating a 1/2 cup of non fat cottage cheese 1 piece toasted whole grain bread. 15 almonds. 4 hard boiled eggs without yolks.I wait about 1 hour and I drink a protein drink it has aprox 75g of protein 300 cals no fat no carbs. I'm a bit lost on this hole protein thing. Any Help would be greatly accepted

Sounds pretty damn good to me. Thats pretty much what I do. Be sure to get protein in IMMEDIATELY after your workout, say 60-80 grams in your case because of your weight. Drink half immediately, and sip on the rest for the next half-hour or so. Be sure to get some simple carbs in with that protein as well.

I saw your profile...trimming pounds while bulking up is a tall order. Its too different ways to approach weight training. You can still trim pounds while lifting because of natural fuel burning and your metabolism spededing up a bit, but please don't expect to get ripped while bulking up, unless you use roids.lol You can bulk up/gain lean muscle then cut-up.

What would be some good simple carbs? and when to eat them.

Your best scenario is to eat a meal rich in complex carbs and lean protein 1-1 1/2 hrs. prior to the gym if you can. A good example would be a cup of oatmeal, 5 eggwhites, 1 whole egg, a lean meat like turkey bacon. If you cannot swing this, I would opt to have a MRP rather than just a protein drink prior to lifting, you NEED carbs for fuel. You could always make a good pre workout shake, such as take your whey and 1/2-1 cup of raw oats in a blender 1 hr. or so before training.

As for simple carbs post training, dextrose and maltodextrin combo are your best bet with your protein. It is super compensation time post training, take advantage of it. Have 1 gr. of Vit. C also.
