Im on the cross country running team and our last and most important race is coming up. We run 3.1 miles. and in past races i have felt like i want to throw up, or i just feel really out of energy. I really want to do good this race. So im wondering what i should eat for breakfast and the night before so that i have plenty of energy and also so that my sto mach isnt upset.

Depends. When is your race? If its an invitational and in the morning, be careful not to eat too much. A complex carbohydrate (such as pasta) is usually a fairly good idea. Some ppl get stomach problems if they are dehydrated too, so watch out for that.

I never ran a race that I didnt almost throw up afterwards. I just considered it giving it my all. If you are in high school your race is probably in the afternoon. Stay away from fried foods and junk. Eat some oatmeal for breakfast with a piece of fruit or something. Have a good lunch, maybe a sandwich or something and eat an energy bar maybe an 1 1/2 before you run. 3.1 miles isnt really a long way so it is not like you have to carb load. Good luck.

Oh, and like wrestler said, drink plenty of water, but not just the day of the race. If you are hydrating the day of the race, you are not going to be hydrated. You need to start drinking water 2-3 days before the race, so that your body is well hydrated. Look at your pee it should be clear. If you are not sure that you are hydrated, send me a sample of your urine and I will let you know.
