why dont you do both?
use cardio to burn off the fat you have, and weight training will help build lean muscle and raise your metabolism to aid in the fat burn.
check out the programs offered here.. they've dealt alot of success to people looking to get into better shape. good luck!

If you are not losing fat, it is simply because your diet is not right. Losing fat is losing weight, and to do this you must create a caloric deficit. Keep protein high as you can at all times, and start cutting calories below maintenance. Investigatte the foods you eat, cut all refined sugars, refined foods, in favor of wholesome high fiber low glycemic carbs, have your protein of course, and add in some healthy fats. Do this below maintenance, train hard, and you will lose fat.

As he say..........resistance, cardio and whole foods. Calorie in verses calorie out to insure weight lose. Muscle cannot turn into fat or reverse. Two different cells. So we need to flatten one and enlarge the other.
Takes more calories to keep muscle on then fat so pump up, do cardio and work-out calories something like this;ideal weightx10=daily food intake, now divide that by 5 and there is your formula. Some where to start.
Best wishes
