After completing a workout sometimes I feel like doing some extra sets when I get home (a couple of hours later). Is this a good thing to do? When do the muscles start healing?

I think that if you feel you can do more after you leave maybe your intensity or the munber of sets should go up? I mean I know when I come home after a workout I canna not o any more,...just a thought

I agree with mutt. Up your intensity when you are working out. The rest of the day should go towards muscle reapair through proper nutrition. By doing extra sets hours after, you are definately halting any of the positive aspects of recovery.

heres something i do now and again....
after working a particular muscle group (chest etc) and you have pushed the intensity and gone to failure....move on to another muscle group (legs whatever) and do your usual stuff. After legs, move back to the chest and hit it with one more heavy set ensuring you go to max failure. If theres ever a set which guarentees maxium growth then this is the one.....you wont wanna train when you get home!!
good luck

That's probably your endorphins. I always feel really amped and uppity for a couple hours after a workout, but rarely feel like doing more sets.
Instead of those extra sets, do some plate to mouth curls. Your muscles don't need more stress, they need more fuel. Muscles don't grow from lifting, they grow from recovery.
