Hey,

I've unfortunately neglected my posture over the years and as a result I' have noticed now that I've begun weight training the muscles on my left are generally bigger :surprised: especially around my shoulders. I know my body has taken years to develop into the state it is now, and it won't be a quick fix, but are there any ways to deter this problem from getting worse and more obvious? any weight training and body building techniques?

Thanks

Hmmm... most "posture" problems deal more in the saggital plane than the frontal plane. What I mean is that "Posture" usually refers to hunched shoulders or a jutting pelvis/butt. Right/left imbalances could be caused by mild scoliosis, which would have to be diagnosed by a doctor. However, muscular imbalances like what you're taking about could also be due to persistantly favoring one side to do some repetative heavy lifting activity, like wearing a heavy school or work bag over the same shoulder every time, and lifting things with the same arm each time. I personally have much bigger muscles and shaper definition in my left arm than my right arm, b/c I always carry my 28 lb son with my left arm. We'd need more info before we could really help you out more.
