Due to my work schedule, some days I lift, take a shower and go right to bed. Should i eat before going to bed? If so what should I eat?

from what i have heard it is not good to eat before sleeping, as this is when the food will go straight to fat!!
dunno if this is true, but i have heard a few thing, that u should not eat befpore sleeping, as well, this can interupt your sleep, as your body is working to digest the food, and can make u restless.
Perhaps eat about 2 hours prior to going to sleep.

I don't think it's good to not have something after a workout. Maybe you could take a protein bar with you and eat it as you leave the gym, at least you will have given your muscles something to grow on and you will have a little time before bed to let it digest some.

You need a protein shot after your workout or your muscle tissue will break down in a catabolic state. I generally eat fat free cottage cheese before bed, its casiene protein and breaks down slowly thus feeding your stressed muscles during sleep. You must eat the right foods at bedtime or its counter productive to muscle tissue. Stick with a protein mix of some sort, it doesn't have to be a 3 course meal. We build muscle tissue resting between workouts, they must be fed.

I did that for years. I'm not a night person so after my late fencing in the evenings I didn't feel like eating so I went straight to bed (also hopening that I would loose a little fat on the way) Well, the only thing I got was a very bad recovering, loss of muscle mass and my fat stayed on.....
You need to get something after your work out (to avoid catabolism and to start fat burning) Don't only eat proteins (since the body also needs carbs and will therefore break down proteins for energy..... Waste of good protein in my opinion...) You don't want to put on fat either so the very best choice would be a good shake with both proteins and carbs.
