dumbells necessary?

What is gained by using dumbells? What is lost by not using them?

In my experience it has allowed my weaker side to catch up with my stronger side since the stronger side does more of the work with barbell excercises. Also with dumbbells and chest excercises I have noticed a better stretch at the bottom. I recommend using both methods though, I believe that it what most people do.

Using dumbells correctly can help you work out your muscles bettery- both primary and secondary since there is more range of motion allowed.
