Just wondering if there is anything wrong with working out with dumbbells only. Assuming of course you used heavy enough weight. Maybe using the Bowflex select tech, or whatever they are called.
I know those in particular are pretty pricey, but from what I can tell, I would almost come out cheaper buying them along with a cheap standard bench, without the racks for a barbell.
And from what I can tell, there is nothing I can't do with dumbbells that I can't do with a barbell. Maybe even more with dumbbells. And it seems that dumbbells would force a weaker side to work harder on it's own with no help from the other side.
I may even be ablt to contsruct or rig something that I already have to serve as a bench.
Anything wrong with this theory?
Thanks guys.

Okay... strike that question. I didn't realize just HOW pricey the select techs are. 350 bucks. But I did find a 300 lb. Olympic barbell set for $180.
I guess I could just use this piece of crap weider machine I bought for the bench. It inclines and declines, and I could always use the machine itself (sort of like the powerods) for supplementation and isolation exercises.
The only thing is there is no place to rack the barbell... yet. I might be able to rig something. And I could always just do what I used to do years ago when I used free weights and didn't have a spotter. When I got to failure, I would just let the barbell sit on my chest for a second while I composed my self, roll it down my chest and stomach (tightening my stomach as I went) untill it got to my waist. Then just sit up, pick it up, and place it on the floor.
Grant it, this isn't the ideal or safest way to do things, but I'm a big guy at 6'3", 275 lbs. I never had a problem before.
I think my only real delima would be with squats though. :(

Probably not what you want to hear, but get both.
