Everything I have ever read tells me that you should have between 30 seconds and max 2 minutes down time between sets when working out (assuming nothing out of the ordinary). When I work out I get drained after about my 6th excercise of 3 times each. (I do a chest/bi, back/tri, shoulder/trap, leg split). So basically I get 9 sets for each body part and am just beat so I do some abs and head home. The last few days though I have gotten a resurgence of energy about 10 minutes after I left the gym and almost went back because of it.

My question then is: are there any downfalls or drawbacks to taking 10-15 minutes of a break (maybe walk on the treadmill or somthing) during a workout and then keeping going?

i usually will take a longer break inbetween body parts if i need it or inbetween exercises, but i will complete all of my sets for a given exercise without too long of a break. I never time my breaks, i just go by feel....if im doing really heavy squats, i'll take more time inbetween sets than if im something lighter
