I am 21, and 6 months ago I went to visit a well known plastic surgeon in my area. My family recomended him. I told him that since i was little my weight had gone up and down between 10 and 15 lbs., now the bottem of my stomach has a little pouch that looks like i had a kid. He told me that I need"abdomonal reconstruction", because the pouch is forming a suction around my abs and pulling them down. He said they would cut open the bottem of my stomach and do some LIPO,reconstruct my abs, pull down the skin and make me a new belly button, this would give me a six pack. The rest of my body is fine but I am scared. I talked to my regular doctor about this and she recomended it too. This will be expensive 3 to 7 thousand dollars. Any ideas on what to do?

forget about it...bunch of BS.....save the money, pain, and recovery....
you can get rid of this through better nutrition and exercise...
run 3-4 times a week at a high intensity(or as hard as you can manage)
Do strength training 2-3 times a week....do exercises like squats, deadlifts, goodmornings, pull ups, presses....these exercises will make you strong and will strengthen your core....they will also help boost your metabolism to help you burn more calories....add some ab work 2-3 days a week...of crunches, sit ups, twists, leg raises....etc....for about 10-12 sets of 3-4 exercises....about 1 exercise per lower abs, upper abs, and obliques....or since you feel you need more emphasis on lower abs....do 2 exercises that stress lower abs more....and then do 1 exercise that emphasizes upper abs and then 1 exercise that stresses obliques....use reps of 10-15....if you can do all the reps and it's light...add resistance in the form of weights, cables, or harder exercises/decline benches....or use physio balls...etc....
forget about the LIPO...it's a bunch of $hit.....you don't need it....10-15 lb? that's nothing...if you are motivated...you can accomplish that on your own in 4-6 months....just push yourself and work out consistantly....
freetrainers...is a great resource as well to educate yourself and to stay motivated.....

I agree, forget lipo you can do it yourself just like Menace said.

I third that! Surgery can be dangerous so why put yourself through an unnecessary risk. Not only do you have the risk of the surgery itself but you also have to worry about post-surgery complications such as infection. Not to mention the expense!

Another advantage to "doing it yourself" (no surgery) is that you'll learn a valuable technique for tightening your body and learning good nutrition, which will be very useful if you ever do have kids and develop your "pouch" again! If not, you'll likely be off to the surgeon yet again!
-------------- Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there.

additionally you can't gurauntee results.....my mom had a facelift and the doctor messed up...and the face came out uneven....down 15g, more than a month of no sleep while recovering in horrible pain....and having to hear bs from the doc that it was 'her' fault and not his....thinking about it I wanna perform that surgery on him....
as others pointed out you'll also gain invaluable knowledge on how to stay in shape and continue to look good and if the need arise whether because of an illness or birth....you'll be able to get back in shape...I think many people do it because it's the easy way out...at least in the short term...(no gym membership, no effort, etc).....however they fail to realize the true 'cost'....yes there's a monetary cost...but there's also tremendous pain involved...and no te painkillers won't help completely....you'll be sleeping less....you'll have to take time off from work...and so on...
plus what did my mom learn from all of this? well maybe that plastic surgeons suck....but other than that she did not correct her nutrition or exercise habits...so she's back to weighing same as I...and feeling crappy....
just to drive the point home...do it on your own!

Lipo is only temporary if your eating habits and activities stay the same. Try things on your own first and really try hard for about 6 months before even thinking about surgery. I think too many people are just looking for the easy way out of everything. Patience is a virtue. good luck.
