The diets, the exercise, lifting weights you have never been able to lift before, seeing results when you can finally slip on those shorts that you couldn't get over your hips before. I thought of these things the other day in a new light when I ran into a old friend at the gym who was in terrible shape. At first when I saw her I thought to myself, please God give me the strenght to never be in that shape again. Then she called out my name OMG I knew her. In the locker room she showed me the insulin pump that she now had to wear due to all the wrong decisions she had made in her life for her health. I am so happy that I made it in time. I feel sorry for her yet happy that she is trying to make new healthy lifestlye changes now. What keeps me going, I never want to stick a needle in my belly again. Just reflecting to all my thoughts on why I do what I do to stay where I am and what drives even more to be the best I can be.

I honestly beleive I was heading in that direction... never really cared what I ate... rarely got up off the couch to do any activity... and now I'm much more aware of what I eat and I exercise five times a week... I am by no means Arnold or on the way to becoming a Mr. Universe, but I'm much happier with my appearance than I was two years ago.
A friend of mine was kinda giving me hassle about working out... saying it's what 'society wants us to do.' Whatever.... some in society also want me to eat at McDonald's everyday too.... I've made a choice and so has he....
Just my thoughts...

That is very sad, sandysford, and yet, a path many of us were going down, as Tim said. Thank you for sharing, I could visualize myself should I have chosen to keep stuffing my face and pitying myself.

yea I was heading in the direction too soon in life........In 2nd grade I was over 100lbs, by the time I got to my freshman year in high school I had a 48in waist.(about 270 something lbs) That was way way to big, but i finally got it, that if i'm geneticlly "predetermined" to be big I might as well be strong. Finally I realized diet helped more. Now if I can get the cardio thing down lol
I love seeing people from highschool and junk and them seeing me with awe about how much bigger I have goten( in a good way) I just think, look what I was doing while you was worried about how "tight" your car was, or out drinking.

That's funny Andrew. I think that was me with the tight car. Well, it got stolen, now I have no car, and I'm in the weight room, wishing I was where you are now. They can't steal my personal bests in the gym, can they? I was also the guy that was out drinking, but, let's not get in to that now.
