DEAR GROUP MEMBER, GET INVOLVED BY POSTING YOUR WEIGHT - BE ACCOUNTABLE.

(Daily or weekly or as often as you wish to share your progress, get motivation & inspire others)

A daily, weekly or monthly weigh in is a good way to check your progress and stay on track.. or find out how to get back on track! Let's all stick together and help each other get to our final destination!

Here are a few basic rules to follow when posting please:

1. Join the group by posting a brief introduction about yourself, your goals, motivation and plan of attack! POST IT IN THIS THREAD

2. Participate as often as you wish, the more the better even if is to encourage and motivate others. Weigh in by posting your current weight along with your starting weight and goal weight.

3. The group will also have a general weigh-in EVERY MONDAY. You are not required to post on this day, but if you decide to weigh yourself once a week, this is the time to do it.

Everybody is welcome in this group - and you don't need to be trying to LOSE WEIGHT, you can also join if you are trying to GAIN WEIGHT.

Best of luck everyone and let's stay positive, helpful and successful!

Original post by crushedgoddess:

I am a 31 year old woman who allowed her body to turn to mush. I have always been on the heavier side of the scale but a few years ago I let it balloon out of control. I was involved in a bad marriage and ate my way through it. I topped the scales at 287 pounds, my biggest, even after having two kids. Now, I am at 203 but I seemed to have stopped losing the weight. My doctor put me on a 1200 calorie a day diet and from what I understand lowering it anymore would put my health in danger which kind of negates the point of losing the weight.

My goals are to lose between 45 to 50 pounds. For some reason, when I go below 140 pounds I just look and feel sick. I have several inspirations. My mother is one of them. She weighs in at 350 pounds and is constantly complaining of joint pain and is battling many health issues that are brought on by the weight. I look at her and beg God to not let me end up like that. My kids are another ispiration. I have two very active little boys. I want to be able to keep up with them. Show them a few new tricks that they would never expect from mom. My final inspiration is my fiance. Although I know he loves me, I have outside competition and want to keep his interest. He is several years younger than I and is a bouncer on Bourbon Street, New Orleans. Although I know he comes home to me every night, I want to make sure, when he is surrounded by skinny half-naked women, that he has a reason to come home. I also want to inspire him to take better care of himself. His father has high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease. I do not want him to suffer from any of these if they can be avoided by a healthier lifestyle.

Basically, I am sick and tired of being the fat chick!

--------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to the group and FreeTrainers! First, congrats on your amazing progress and current weight - it's obvious you have the will and determination to get it done. Your story and inspiration are moving, thank you for sharing.

1200 calories is on the low side. How many meals per day are you currently eating? The ideal is about 6 consisting of breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack (optional). Eating this often increases your metabolism, as compared to 2-3 big meals a day which actually slows it down. Portions should be small, or ideal for your requirements.

I would perhaps increase the caloric intake so you feel healthy and instead burn the extra calories through fitness. Our home based free exercise plans (Exercise > Find a workout) are a great start. Basic dumbbells, exercise ball or exercise bands at various levels.

Keep us posted!

George,
I do not actually eat meals although I cook them for my family. In order to stay within the calorie limit, I munch throughout the day. My doctor put me on this limit about a year ago and insists that it is okay for me to continue. I have to admit, I have questioned the judgement call there a couple of times. By about one in the afternoon, I feel so fatigued that I have to lie down and nap and I cannot help but notice this did not start happening until the calorie limit began. In your opinion, how much of an increase would be okay without having negative effects?

I have pulled the at home workout sheets and they are great but I do not seem to have figured out yet how to adjust them for me. Several years ago I had knee surgery to repair a torn ACL. During the procudure they found that I had actually damaged most of my cartilidge in that knee as well. I use a brace every time I exercise but it still only lets me push it so far. I was always told burning good, pain not good. Is this correct? I do walk the track at the park every day and am attempting to jog bits of it now. That darn knee only lets me push so far. But the good thing about an arthritic knee, I know when the weather man is wrong.

Sometimes it comes down to being prepared and making the time in our busy schedules. With foods, try cooking for a few days at a time, pack it in tupperware containers and have it ready to go for each day. With fitness or the gym, pencil it in to your schedule and stick with it.

How's everyone doing? Join the group and start being accountable with your goals with everyone.

Hello. I am just starting on the yearly removal of my winter layer. I weigh 134 today and could happily lose 5 pounds, but we'll see about 10 or 15? I have been eating well, but I know that to take of the excess I need to up the activity level. The plan is to start running again, and do home exercises. I have never been a part of an online group like this so we will see if it helps?

Welcome to the group! The first walk or home workout can be a tough step but once you do it once, then again and again and start to see the results it will become easier.

Be sure to check back often, post your progress (good and bad) and follow along what others are doing.

Remember, staying involved is what makes this whole process easier..

Almost a week in and starting to feel that boredom or resistance to the home workout. I think that I will start doing a different one too. Anyone else feel like that?

---

Not to worry. Re-do the program at a higher level and be sure to follow the intructions, rest between sets exactly.

You can also grab an exercise ball or resistance bands $5-$10 at the store, and try those home workouts.

Keep mixing it up to stay interested.

Hi, I am starting my official exercise and diet change this week. My goal is to lose 105-125 pounds, ideally, by August 6 and maintaining my weight there after. I have been eating well for the last 2 weeks and been exercising regularly for the past week. I have been doing a variety on Gym workouts, Cardio workouts, and Home workouts before I found this website. Yesturday I weighed in 240 down from 245.

hi there my friends. I am 55 years old and out of shape although round is a shape. I am not horribly over weight but in the past 5 years I have gained 25 pounds. I was a 120-125 pounder until the big 5-0. At that time I had my 4th knee surgery being a cartlilage implant which put me on crutches for 12 weeks and then the weight came on and stayed. I work out with weights 3-4 days a week and aerobics2-3 days. My job pays me to loose weight each quarter. So far 4 pounds but lots of inches. I'll take either one. My goal is 130 but my doctor says not below 135,. Still feel not so good at 135 at least in the past so I'll see. Thanks for the opportunity to have someone to cheer me on. My husband does not care how much I weigh so he is not a help but at least I know he loves me as I am.

Oh, whoops. I posted in the wrong thread. >>;

Copied over:

My name is Bethany, but most people either call me Beth or Rhiss. (Rhiss is mostly for online people..haha) I'm 21 years old and my goal is to be 100 pounds smaller by summer 2013. Right now, I'm currently at 238 pounds, 130 pounds is about the healthy weight for someone my size. So that's where I'm headed. I'm ready to be healthier. My main motivation is that all through high school and middle school I always wanted to wear a bikini. So, now I'm going to try. My boyfriend is another motivation, I don't want to lose him and I don't want him to lose me before I leave this world of old age. ._. I have too much living to do! today is day two.. I'm hoping I don't throw myself into an asthma attack again, this isn't fun to deal with lol. I think I started out too ambitious. >.>

Hi everyone ^_^  i am a 27 yr old female.  Last year I went from 280 lbs to 135 lbs.  At the end of the year I lost my physically-intense job that was helping me do so well :P    I went back up to 165 lbs already !  So i have roughly 40 lbs to lose.   I'm 5'2 and  I was on the weightlifting team in high school where for many years i weight around 115.  my goal weight is around 125 i think.
My plan of attack :   Eat high protein, low fat.  Fish, juices, brothy soups with lots of fresh veggies.  Once a week i treat myself to something I love. If i dont do that I usually end up losing it and eating a whole cheesecake or something. My workout schedule so far will be this :  Mon and Fri at home exercise routine that finishes up with one of my favorite meditative yoga videos.  Tues, Wed, THurs.  I do cardio at the gym. This week is the first week on this site's program so it says 20 min.  and to incrase by 5 min each week to max of 60 min.      Sat and Sun are free time with the hubby who I hardly get to see as it is. We do activities like boating, or working on the boat, or the car ^_^
I look forward to communicating with all these ppl who are in this with me ;P

Hey Guys,

Kenzi here again!
Today I am feeling a little less motivated but still in relatively optomistic spirits.  I have attended 1 Pilates class and have been going to an indoor circuit trining style bootcamp program. I have also managed to run just under a mile twice but still weigh 158. I am running again today and really want to push ( sure I can clock up more ground if I try really hard. Can't wait until the kids are back to school so that I can stay focused in the day.

Back to work today. That is 3 16-17 hour days. I am looking forward to Monday. More snow should be melted and alot less to shovel. I miss working out but 2-3 hours of shoveling takes its toll daily. I will weigh in on Sunday but do not expect much simce this was  a low exercise week. Monday my husband is home so I have to invent ways to work out around him. All have a good weekend Kathy

Kathy,
My hubby works nights five days a week which is awesome when it comes to having private time to work out. When he is off, though, I simply lock him out of the bedroom. My neighbor and I do not need an audience when we are trying desperately to keep up with the super skinny hyper women on the workout videos.

Good morning! I am new to this site and was just needing alil push with my workout routine. I am a very active girl (sports, gym, etc) but i just cant seem to get my weight down to where it needs to be. I weigh 163lbs. For my height (5'8") ive been told that my weight is fine. But i have been 145lbs before and it was perfect. I am 31 years old and my goal is to be back to 145lbs by June. Is this a reasonable goal?
Thanks
Crystal

I retired a little over a year ago after 33 years of air traffic control. Had shoulder surgery 2 months ago. I need to rehabiltate my shoulder, and lose a 10-15 pounds while I'm at it. I'm fairly active, but a lot of those activites have beer involved. 215lbs today.

Hey Larry,
How is retirement working out for you??
Shoulder rehabilitation can take some time to work through, but staying with it is the key. Were you offered any physiotherapy to aid surgery recovery? Small efforts in the hbeginning should get you on the right track.
I am trying to lose a little more weight and tone up. Working & having 2 children to run around can prove hard to work around so I definitely see time management as something I have to get  a real grip of.
Hope everything  goes the way you plan but remember to be easy on that shoulder!

Hello.  My name is Tom and I definitely need to get the weight under control.  Primary motivation came from a 298 weigh in just before Christmas.  After several weeks of grumbling about it, I finally decided to do this thing.  Had my first workout this morning.  Soreness beginning to subside a couple hours later, lol.

Anyhow, weigh in today at 284.  I took some preliminary effort at better diet after holidays and am happy to see that already paying off.  Hopefully, the exercise routine will help kick that into high gear.  My goal is 185 - 195.  Supposedly, my ideal weight is 170 but I really don't see that as a realizable or even healthy goal.  Under 200 would tickle me to death, though.

well, heck the scale at the hospital where I work is broken again. I guess too many of us are using it. Anyway when and if I can ever get out of my house, Wind has yet again blown the 3 inches of snow into little mountains which means alot more shoveling. This also means I can not get out of my 1/4 mile driveway. My plan is to get a digital scale so my numbers can be read. According to my current little scale I am somwhere at 140 ish. The little lines just are not very helpful. I am hoping by Wednesday to have a new scale and a weight...lets hope.

Today's weigh in.
  • weight: 200.4
  • waist: 33 1/2"
  • hips: 45"
  • upper arm: 15"
  • thigh: 26"

Guess I cannot be too disappointed. I lost 2 pounds and 2 1/4 inches total this past week. Just feel I could do better.

---Hey Smoothi,
I had six weeks of therapy, released on my own now. It's not 100% but getting there. Retirement is great, I highly recommend it. I'm lucky I'm able, (actually required) to retire at an early age, 56.

Oh Great Larry! Im in my 30's but know people who absolutely loathe their retirement!
Im guess therapy worked out well if they were happy for you to go it alone.  Have you checked the workout options on this website? There is quite a few choices about what workouts & the frequency you want. Just pace yourself and don't push it too far!

Hey JoniPeterson & TomScar: good to know I am not the newest person on here, though that doesn't mean that I am not still getting to grips with this website.

Ok, so today I'm not so keen on weighing in as I have the dreadful feeling that in spite of working out the way I have, I may have gained weight. I don't mind so much as I have been told that this can happen and its normal, I just don't want anything to take away from the focus I have at the moment.  I might start a Flog so that I can check to see if there is a pattern that I am missing. Has anyone here considered starting a Flog?
