My biggest challenge today is to continue to fight against the sugar cravings. It sucks when you really are your own worst enemy.

Oreos. Oreos and cheesecake are my weakness. And it seems that as my body progresses through the month and the hormonal changes that every woman experiences, the cravings get worse. But so far, no sugar other than the natural glucoses in a banana.

My wife and I nhave concluded that the cravings are worst on rainy days when we can't be as active as we want. By writing it down for yourself and others to see you are actually helping yourself and others resist the temptation. Well done.

---Goddess I am exactly the same!  I would live off sugary food if I could still be healthy and skinny.  Unfortunately  no sugar for me.  I find the first two weeks of cutting it out are the worst, after that it is a bit easier.  Plus I find that I can pretend I am cheating with things that are sweet but not ( processed) sugary . Like a vanilla yogurt and frozen berry shake.

My biggest challenge today is to get my sneakers on and go for my walk, I am feeling so drained today that all I want to do is crawl back into bed.

Today my biggest challenge is going to the gym! I stopped going to the gym when I got pregnant last March (Dr's orders) and today will be my first day back since my son was born in Nov. It is a new gym, so I am excited. But this is my only day off work this week, and I would love nothing more then get more done around the house, take a nap with my son's, make dinner, and go to bed! But if I want to be around for a long time to be a good mom I need to get active! So I guess here I go!

Finally got motivated to go do my walk and the weather turned nasty. So I did the workout for today and the video for the ab circle pro instead. At least I got moving, I guess.

My biggest desire today was that  I wanted to eat an entire white birthday cake with white iceing and roses. I didn't so I'm very proud. The birthday cake thing comes up about once a month. I ruthlessly suppress it except on my birthday which only happens once a year. I get to start on the cake at midnight on my birthday and eat until midnight the end of the day.  I almost always finish the cake. But today, just this day I didn't eat the cake. But that's because there was no cake. I'm very proud.

My biggest challenge today is to let the nicotine patch do it's job and avoid smoking today. I have tried to quit before with little success. I have to make it work this time around.

@ charlie.. good job! But I think I'll be trying the 'eat the entire cake on my birthday' idea.. that's what I call a real cheat day!

@ crushedgoddess.. this is a massive challenge but YOU CAN DO IT. From my friends that have stopped.. seems to be the first 2-3 weeks.. after that it gets easier. Start chewing a lot of gum? :)

Halfway through my workout my daughter decided she needed to "potty"  so I paused what I was doing and tended to her-  after 10 minutes of getting her situated and down for her nap, both my mind and body had lost momentum. I almost talked myself out of continuing/finishing my workout- my mind said  "you've done a good workout...You can work harder tomorrow..." I managed to overcome this negative talk and jump back into my workout- it was hard-but it felt good!

That's what it's all about. Well done.

Good job for not quitting. I know that once I begin a workout it is difficult for me to finish it if I have to walk away for a minute. I lose the momentum as well. You did an amazing job by sticking with it.

Getting out of bed! But.........I did it! Working two jobs and being away from home for 16 hours most days makes mornings tough. Hopefully, I can stay in the routine. The feeling after leaving the gym sweaty and walking the two blocks home in the chilly air is worth it.
2012/02/22, 10:34 AM
That would be hard. I was accustomed to 12 to 16 hour days and getting in a workout for years but I owned the business. My hat's off to you.

My biggest challenge (yesterday) was meeting my husband out for lunch.  Of course he can eat anything and everything and cholesterol numbers and weight are virtually uneffected grrrr...Genetics!( and that fact that he is a triathlete and trains constantly)  So his favorite place to eat?  The chinese food buffet!  I ate a salad and an apple before I met him and stuck to the steamed  veggies and tempeh (as I watched him demolish 4 plates of fried, saucy, treats).  It was hard!  We have a ritual sorta of sharing fried dumplings and fried shrimptoast...But I said no (and he supported me).  A proud moment for me, as food is my biggest obstacle most days.

My biggest challenge today is to get some exercise in after my 12 hour working shift.

---Forget work days for the moment. As we discussed before, if you workout just on your days off it's better than nothing. You will find that a month of exercising just on your days off will increase your energy reserve. Try very hard to adopt a "just today" attitude. So on your next day off, decide that "I will work out today no matter what obstacles I find". Then repeat it on the next day off. You will find your energy supply  going up the longer you do it. Eventually, amazingly enough, you'll miss the exercise. It's addictive. Break the cycle you are in.

I will definitely try to break this cycle I'm in. Thanks, I will make myself workout the days I'm off! I use to do that and more and I do miss how I was feeling when I did workout.

My biggest challenge today was portion control. I didn't know how many people I was cooking dinner for, so I cooked a little extra to make sure I'd have enough. Fast forward to me staring down the leftover potatoes. I won, though! Put down my fork and cleaned up the kitchen instead.

Portion control is one of the most easily overlooked tools to proper diet. Nice work.

Hi, I'm new to the group and think that this is an incredible idea to to answer to all of you to keep me honest about myself.

Today, my biggest challenge is that I'm just getting over Pneumonia and I have severe Pleuracy which hurts if I breath, move my arm or basically anything.  Health wise, I'm choosing to eat right and wait until I'm physically able to excercise with a positive mindset. :)

My biggest challenge is the gym.  My first day in years.  I'm motivated though because I'll be there while my boyfriend is training at his Taekwondo Dojo. I'm signing up at a gym near it so while he's there I can go to the gym.  I'm excited to start this new lifestyle, but am quite nervous about going to the gym alone.  I'm kinda familiar with the machines, but when I'm by myself I feel like I'm doing them incorrectly, even though  most of them are pretty self explanatory.  I'll just study the moves on here and take notes... I'll be good! One small step for Jenn, giant step for healthy body and mind!!!

---I totally agree.  It's my first day back in years too.  And my day off. It's gloomy out so its perfect for a movie day .. but... i've been researching diet and exercise all morning so I'm really pumped to go!  Here we go!  You'll feel so much better once its done and you're home doing all the things you'd normally do, but with a gym routine added!! Good Luck!

Today my biggest challenge is eating a snack every few hours at work. I'm working late and need to maintain eating throughout my shift to keep my energy up and avoid eating late night when I get home!
