Hi All,

I read the first post about Cardio from bb1fit. He talks about not doing cardio on an empty stomach in the morning for fat loss if you are a lean person who wants to continue to lose fat and build lean tissue. I consider myself in the "lean" category, my bodyfat is around 11%. I want to continue to lose fat so my abs will show. I'm currently doing cardio or HITT first thing in the morning about 3-4 times a week. Should I stop or limit this and do more strength training. I'm not disputing what bb1fit has to say, but below is what he suggest people who are lean and want to burn fat.

#1 - On non-weight training days
#2 - weights in the am and cardio in the pm
#3 - light-cardio after weights

Are there lean people in this forum that have had success with the above suggestions. Please advise

The answer is a resounding yes! If you do not have fuel for the session, especially HIIT, where do you think a good portion of that fuel will come from already being in a catabolic state from overnight? If you do not mind losing some of your hard earned muscle, then keep doing what you are doing. We learn our best lessons the hardest way sometimes.

bb1fit,

If my priority is maximizing fat loss and trying to get to a body fat % where my abs will show, I'm willing to sacrifice some muscle loss now. I'm also doing heavy lifting 3 times a week and eating at least 1/lb of protein for my body weight. Will this suffice or are you saying doing weights in the morning and cardio in the evening will be better for fat loss. I'm sorry for asking this question, I know this topic have been discussed everywhere, but it seems like 1 out of every 2 articles I read on the web, it's saying cardio first thing in the morning is the best way to tap into your fat, and then the argument against that is what you mentioned, losing muscle in the process. Going back to what I had said, I would sacrifice muscle loss if what I'm doing will achieve fat loss quicker.

Thanks
