Today I went to the gym just like any other day, gave it my all, towards the end of what was a great workout, I just wanted to sit down and cry because I could go no further. I couldn't even finish my workout. I didn't sleep well last night but that has never had an effect on me before. I never felt this way before. Has anyone else experienced this.

My first question is how long without a real break(I mean no lifting lounging in front of the tv eating bon bons type of break)have you been. You might be in need of plain old rest. If it is starting to feel like a chore to go to the gym your are overtraining and need to rest. Take a few days off, I have gone as long as 3 months ( I do not suggest that) but take soem time to recharge.

Are you feeling no energy or just not into it mentally? If its no energy you need carbs, if its mentally, try what Mutt said, a break, try a week or 2. Keep us posted as to your progress. Your great!

I notice you are doing cardio now too in preparation for your contest. It gets really very hard, very intense at times. Contest training is taking it to the next level. Be prepared for this. Take your days off while you can, May is a long ways off still. And, do not add exercises to your workout you are doing now. The workout you are doing now is intense emough, and intense cardio on top of that is intense enough. When you are done dieting down, you will be in the shape you want to be. You cannot recover from overtraining normally, and when contest training, it is even harder to do so. Bottom line, stick with the program, rest on your days off while you still can. Good luck....

Find a good massage therapist and book yourself an hour. Maybe it's not really a quick fix, but sometimes when your body is feeling 'run down' it helps to treat yourself to a little luxury. Maybe a little down time would help you to recharge and meet your goals.

I just wanted to take the time to thank you guys for your advice. Over-training sure can take alot out of you. That was what I was doing, trying to hit what I think are all the problem areas. Perfection and bodybuilding, what a mind drain that is. A long bubble bath and taking a couple of days off has done wonders and a few extra hugs from my sweetie has done wonders. PS Thanks Caravan, what a lovely note you sent.
