Hi krystal. First of all flab can't be reduced in a given spot like your upper arms only. You lose flab by altering your diet.
The cracking you ask about isn't a bad thing unless you experience a lot of pain. Try resting another week or two and then start back more slowly. If you still have pain that won't go away, it's doctor time.
-------------- Sometimes I lie awake at night and wonder where have I gone wrong? Then I hear a voice say this is gonna take longer than one night.

thanx guys.....yeah i reduced my reps to half of what i was doing before i stopped and so now im trying to do about 15 push ups instead of 30 and the same with all my other floor exercises....a friend suggested an ace bandage on each lower arm from wrist to elbow for more support untill i work those muscles back up to par (rembering not to wrap it too tight) i just did a work out vid i got (carmen electras fit to strip---FUN and GOOD workout...i do volume 2 for the workout with her trainer...the first vol has the dance's but they dont get me sweating as bad as the actual workout....should i do this workout on my strength training days and still run on my elliptical 5 days a week i also cut back to 2.5 miles a day instead of 5...i dunno....i just know shorts season is coming up soon! thanks again for the input guys!
ps i know i cant spot train....if i could i wouldnt have my lil buddah belly...lol...krystal

if you could do it in the mornings & lift at night - that would be great but if you have to do it together then lift first then have a power bar & some water then do the cardio stuff - you will need the protein so your body won't use the muscle instead of the fat
I'm doing cardio in the morning (when I have the house to myself) & then lifting at night so hubby can spot me & that is working great but I'm a stay at home mom so I have time to do that

thanks reddy! Im a stay at home mom too...my youngest son gets a lil jealous when i run on my elliptical....but i do it ususally in the morning before lunch (ususally right about the time i make him lunch so he's occupied while i run...i dont really have free weights but i have the vid that does a full upper body and lower body workout using your own body weight as resistance and i have a resistance band i also use ....in the vid (carmen electras fit to strip) carmen does the modified push ups on her knees and i tried them yesterday and the pain in my wrists wasnt too bad i think ill keep doing those till i can get back to my military style ones....i was just concerned about the cardio and weight training in the same day b/c ive read in fitness magazine more than once that you need to give your muscles a day to rest and heal....so much conflicting info out there i guess you really have to decide what works best for yourself! Thanks again for the response and info...support like this message board and website is always appreciated! krystal
