Okay, I don't know why this is happening...
For the last couple of nights in a row I have been waking up with coughing fits. The back of my throat is very itchy/scratchy and it makes it nearly impossible to get back to sleep.
I am not sick, though I was pretty ill the week before. I am thinking it has to do with something in my room, but I don't know what. I have a humidifier and it helps a little if I crank it.
Could this be caused by dust? Or possibly my blankets? I don't know what it is but its driving me nuts!

What has changed in your diet or environment? Do you have sinus problems? How about stomach problems?

Bleach your baseboards, stuff like that. It is an early spring for many(warmer than ususal), and mold may be higher. Allergies.

I always have that too the week after I am recovering from a cold or virus. The doctor told me to drink lots of fluids. Here is the information he gave me:
Productive coughs produce phlegm or mucus (sputum) that comes up from the lungs. This kind of cough generally should not be suppressed. It is needed to clear mucus from the lungs.
Nonproductive coughs are dry coughs that do not produce sputum. A dry, hacking cough may develop toward the end of a cold or after exposure to an irritant, such as dust or smoke. Dry coughs that follow viral illnesses may last up to several weeks and often get worse at night.

I think you hit the nail on the head brandigirl74. I didn't realize coughs followed an illness like this. Though it probably wouldn't hurt to dust my room either.
Thanks for the info guys&gals!

Are you possibly breathing through your mouth, or even sleeping with your mouth open? That will do it too. Have you introduced any new foods or drinks, or even meds into your diet the last few days?

ARGH! That always happens to me too. After getting over a cold and I'm feeling fine, I'll continue to have an itchy throat for like a week after...but only at night. Your body is still in histamine mode.
