I am a 26 ear old male, 6-1 and weigh about 280lbs. I am currently trying to loose about 30-40 lbs and feel that 240-250 would be a much healtier weight for me. For the last few months I have started to walk about 45 min in the morning about 5-6 days a week and work out with free weights about 4 times a week at night. I have lost about 10 pounds so far.

I am looking to tone up and loose fat and maintain a healtier weight. My question is regarding protein drinks and supplements. I have been reading around this website and am still trying to figure out what to do. What kind of protein is best right after my workout(it seems there are so many different types), and should I be taking protein after my workout if I am trying to loose weight(I am thinking that I should). I have also read that protein like muscle milk is good a night right before bed as opposed to PWO. I have always had the problem of late eating and this sounds like a good way to have something right before bed.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Muscle milk would be okay before bed, or you could just have a cup of lowfat cottage chese and some walnuts.

Post-workout you want a fast absorbing protein like whey, and more recently there has been some reserach showing that a mix of faster and slower is even more beneficial, so whey and casein. For the average person, a glass of milk will provide both. Some people even advoacte chocolate milk as being the perfect post-workout drink - it has fast sugars, whey and casein.
