After I have completed my workout sometimes I will do an extra excersise per bodypart for that day. Just to make sure I have completely exhausted that muscle. Is this healthy? Or if I did this a few hours after my workout would that be better?

I read an article by a doctor who said that you should try to achieve muscle failure with each work out, depending on your work out (if your working out properly). I am no expert in the field, but that is what I gather from everything I have read.

As Erin said above, try to acheive muscle failure DURING your workout. If you wait and work the same muscles later, you're cutting into your much-needed recuperation time. Try resting only 60-75 seconds between sets on major muscle groups (chest, legs, etc), and 45 seconds on smaller muscles (delts, biceps, etc). You'll acheive a more 'complete' failure that way. Also try drop sets, burn-outs, platoon system (21s), supersets..... whatever you can to acheive complete faiure.

After I complete my working set (Very Heavy) I lower my weight and do a good set of 10 - 12.
