I was wondering if it was ok to do chest and triceps on the same day? My friend's personal trainer said that you dont gain much if you do chest and tri's on same day but i always thought that it was good to do them on the same day becuase they both sort of go together. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
* does that also go with back/biceps?

I like to do them this way. On back/Bicep day, because my back work hits my biceps so much, i lay off of direct bicep work. I only do 3 sets of barbell curls, and all the rest of my exercises are back related. This is so that I don't overtrain my biceps.

so what your saying is that if i did chest/tri's and back/bi's then i will still get gains in each muscle?

Yes you will still get gains in each muscle. You will get bigger gains if you do seperate isolating muscle exercises though. So if you have the time and patience it would be better if you would do them seperately. Some say it's not necessary though.

I am a fan of antagonist muscle groups as stated in a prior post to the same thing.
