Should I do cardio before or after lifting, or should I do it on my days off? Any help is appreciated.

I do cardio before as a warm-up -- maybe 15 minutes on the treadmill, which is a mile at a fast walk. I figure it kills two birds with one stone that way. I stretch after I work out, and since I work out in the early morning, I usually do some kind of cardio at night, after dinner. Beats watching TV. I usualy do more time on the treadmill or a stepper. In the summer, I'll bike ride or rollerblade. Since I'm not out to get bodybuilder huge, I don't mind adding more cardio in the mix.

I always take Fridays off from any exercise-related activity (cardio or lifting), since I'm physically active at work, I figure my body needs some kind of break.

I do only a warm-up maybe 10 min. of cardio before and if I feel I still have energy after my workout I will do another 5-10 minutes. I son't recommend that you do a full cardio workout alongside your weight training because you are going to burn up all your energy. I like to do my cardio in the mornings and weight lift in the evenings.

Around 10 mins of warm up, then weight training. If I feel like it I do 20 mins after as well. Otherwise I do it seperately and I'll do 30-45 mins.

Some days I do it as the first thing in the mornings.

As a conlusion, don't do too much cardio with the weight training (otherwise the energy will come from the muscles) If you can, then do it later in the day or on the day off.

I fit cardio into my schedule during my weight training rest days and on weekends. On weekends, I'll do cardio in the morning, then weight train in the afternoon.

Good luck!
