Hi yall! :) So my trainer figures that I should try eating less carbs, sweets, and such (in addition to our workout routines, of course) to see how that works for a few weeks as far as dropping some weight. Do any of yall have any experience taking a carb blocker pill? I was wondering if one of those might help out a bit? I know they aren't going to be miracle pills, but if I could get something that gives me a little boost as far as blocking some carb intake, along with less consumption of the starchy foods and sweets, that would be grrrrreat! Anyone know of any that really help somewhat? Or think any of them are worth it? TIA

:surprised:??? Why would you eat something then take a pill to try and undo what you just ate (if that were even possible)? Sounds like bulemia in the New World Order. If by cutting back on carbs you mean reducing sugary sweets, thats fine. As far as non-sugary grains & cereals go, moderate amounts are an import part of a balanced diet. Check out the 'FATKINS' thread in this forum. I bumped it to the top for you.

LOL @ sounds like bulemia  ... so when my trainer says that I should be counting my carbs, and trying to stay under 80, even better under 50, should I really do that? as far as sugary sweets, yes, she said to completely cut those, and the counting would be for breads and such. and even then she said that I should basically stick to the low carb, whole-grain breads, under 9 grams per slice... does that sound right? should I really count the carb grams to stay under a certain amount each day? (like in my Total Protein cereal - 8 net carbs per serving).. ?
and THANK YOU for bumping fatkins!

Have you done a 4-5 day dietary recall analysis to assess what your current food consumption tendencies are? This will give you a starting point to see where you want to make some modifications. I think making gradual adjustments to one's diet are easier to stick with than sudden major changes.

Hi five1sweet22, I am attempting weight loss and have realized that I must cut as much sugar from my diet as possible, most importantly pop, candy, cookies, sugar on foods, etc. I basically was existing on mostly carbs throughout the day and getting a quick fix which not long after left me starving, thus I would overeat or binge. All last week I ate cereal with no sugar, and now oatmeal with cinnamon and Splenda (thanks guys!) and have changed all breads in the house to whole grain, which we eat only in moderation. I have been eating more protein (yet still watch that) and at first I felt a bit buggy, wanting to have some sugar, but after just a few days I was feeling much better, more energy. I keep water with me at all times and drink it with every meal. It got to the point that on Sunday, I decided I could have a pop, I opened it, took three sips and dumped it. I did the same with our traditional Sunday breakfast of eggs cooked in bacon grease, with bacon and toast - pushed it away and ate some celery and a piece of whole grain toast and watermelon. I still eat my fruits so that is sugar enough for me.
As ursusarktos said, gradual is easier, I made the change within a three week period, slowly moving away from the carbs/sweets until I went grocery shopping last week and filled the 'fridge with great food for all of us!
Good luck to you!
