Hello everyone this is my very 1st posting. I wonder if anyone could answer the following questions for me..
1. What is the best exercises for an Endomorph like me? 2. How long does it take the body to realise that you are eating well & exercising so it starts to regularly give up the fat? lol Look forward to reading the replies. Thank you! -------------- Susie x |

Yo Susie!
Hello and welcome to FT. My name is Dave and I'm an endomorph <Crowd: "Hello, Dave">. It is my experience that endomorphs looking to lose bodyfat must keep moving during a workout. This means keeping rest time in between sets to a minimum (a minute or 2 at most). Also, I tend to need some form of daily cardio (generally, folks say too much cardio is bad and not enough is bad, but I think I need a bit more than "average"). Nutrition is also vital. Small, frequent meals containing protein rich foods that have "good" fats (flax, fish oils) and low-glycemic (slow digesting) carbs (brocolli, spinach, zuchinni, etc.) should be your mainstay. There are lots of opinions and suggestions on nutrition and specific exercise details (surf around FT - you'll find lots of good info). Find what works for you, make a committment to yourself, and stick with it. You'll succeed. Hope that helps. Good luck to ya! TSMD |

... and I'm not sure about question 2. My advice is the sooner you make a positive change(s), the sooner the body "reacts" for the better.

Thank you Dave, my fellow endomorph for such a quick response. I put on weight so easily it wasn't until I saw a picture of me at a friend's party that I realised I had put on so much weight, so I am determined to get rid off it all. I have started eating frequent meals including protein in them, I hope by doing this I won't over eat. What I am doing is trying to combine it with weight watchers so I don't overeat. Do you think that is a good idea? I just got a shock when FT suggested that I eat about 2300 cals per day, sounds rather excessive to me!! Thank you again Dave for your advise and welcome.-------------- Susie x |

i'm also endomorphic as well, also have been, one good thing ab out being this is we are never cold  lol Natural isulation. Liek dave said keep moving you need to burn calories, and focase more on reps than the weight. Body building routines work beeter for me , I show the most size( good size) from doing this. Try and keep most of your reps higher than 8 reps.
As for eating habits, keep startches and sugers to a bear minimim these for me anyways seem to make me store body fat more. Any thing green won't hurt you( veggie wise) Keep the carbs low after 7 o clock are bodies slow down then and we wil store more body fat again. You should be able within a month or so tell youv'e been working out, and eating right. Just cause it might not show, you will feel tons better. Good luck! -------------- .......adversity causes some to break, but others to break records! ......minds are not vessles to be filled, but fires to be enlightened ......Confucious once said ,DO NOT play leap frog with a unicorn |

Thanks bigandrew for your input. So should I be going to the gym every day for cardio and do 3 days of weights on top to help shed the fat? :)-------------- Susie x |

Susie, I am not the expert here, but I would start out with:
(1) 3-days-a-week strength training (e.g., M&W&F) (2) 2-days-a-week cardio (e.g., T&H) (3) Keep the nutrition plan going (4) Re-evaluate in a month. The total calories you eat may need to be adjusted, but generally, I notice people on FT are shocked when they find that the program that actually works for them is the nutrition program that has way more calories than they would have ever expected. Just make sure they're not empty calories (for example, ice cream, pepperoni pizza, or those damn Girl Scout cookies - I've never had ANY of these, honest, I've just read about them...):). Do lots of research on FT, define your approach (based on your research), give it 110% for a month or so, give yourself an honest evaluation, and make minor adjustments. I've found that this process is not a static one, and that it is quite a learning experience as well. Learn what works for you (today), what doesn't, keep things fresh and interesting, and enjoy the ride! TSMD |

ditto tenor............. weight train 3 days a week and cardio 2 times a week, make sure you get the heart rate up! Thats what will get rid of the fat. Don't just move your legs you gotta move!-------------- .......adversity causes some to break, but others to break records! ......minds are not vessles to be filled, but fires to be enlightened ......Confucious once said ,DO NOT play leap frog with a unicorn |
