I have just accepted the body for life challenge and I would like everyone to know that I would like as much feedback and tips as I can get. I have lifted weights before but it has been over a year since. I look forward to hearing from you all.
I plan on starting my program recommended by this site on Monday.
Wish me luck!!!!!!

Are you talking about the Body For Life program by Bill Phillips.. sp? (http://www.bodyforlife.com) or do you just mean that your working towards a better body for life using the ft programs? ... Usually when someone says BFL I think the bill phillips prog.. but at the end of your message you said your starting the routine given to you by this site...

Yes, it is the "www.bodyforlife.com" challenge. It lasts for 12 weeks. You get some kind of prize if you are chosen but I'm not really doing it for that. My main goal is to get in shape to have another child. And stay in shape while i'm pregnant this time. Not like last time. I will also keep you guys informed on my progress and will ask lots of questions and advice.

I have taken the BFL challenge 3X. I wish I could say that I had better results with it, than what I did. I have diabetes and a thyroid condition, so my results would not be typical. In 36 weeks total (remember 3 12 week sessions), I lost a total of 6 lbs. I did drop body fat percentage from 31 to 28, but that was it. I have done better with the program that I have found here of free trainers. In less than 4 weeks my bf has dropped another 1% and my inches are falling away from the waist and hip. While I continue to gain muscle mass! I am feeling leaner and meaner using this program. Hey what ever works. My point is never give up. Keep trying and eventually you will find something that works.

I am going to use the exercise plan that was recommended here at FT. It is more my style than the BFL one. I start tomorrow and I can't wait. I think everyone should do this if for no other reason than to have a goal to look forward to. That's why I think I'll do great because I am one of those people who have to have a goal or "finish line" waiting for me.

It is great to have something to look forward to. I couldn't wait to leave work so that I could fill out one more day of my program when I first started. Now, I am in week 7 of the weight loss/tone program and still look forward to working out. You'll really enjoy it and best of luck to you today!

Yesterday was my first day and It was great. I started with legs and man am I sore. But it is a good kind of sore. And I can't believe on how much I have missed out on. I can honestly say that after one day I am addicted to exercise. Now I know that I will succeed and It is a great feeling. I am doing back and shoulders today. Tomorrow is a rest day and I just know I'm going to go nuts. Please give me any suggestions. Also, is is okay to do cardio after a workout?

I know the feeling. I look so forward to working out that it is often difficult to take time off. Iam always trying to figure out ways to get back in the gym... However, the rest days are so important for recovery and growth, just eat and chill.
Cardio following your workout is the way to go. Not before as your workout gains can be affected.

Good luck!

My Roommates Dad won that Body for life challange... I have the book and follow the diet listed in that... It is awesome.. not to mention that my roommates dad won a trip to Hawaii and $25,000... Just remember that with the BFL program the Diet is one of the most important elements...

Usually they say that you should do cardio on your off days, but it depends.

Thanks for the info guys. I am quitting karate so I can use my $25 a month at a gym. I will get more out of it and my weight set at home just isn't cutting it. I will do my cardio on my days off. I have to do something or I'll go nuts. (LIKE TODAY!!! :)! ) Also, I thought that I'd let everyone, that is on the Atkins diet know, I stopped that diet this past Saturday and replaced it with a healthy diet and exercise. I have gotten off my plateau and lost 5lbs and 2 1/2 inches. I also feel great!!!! I have 15 more lbs to go to get to my goal weight then I just need to tone up everything. YAY!!!!!

Hey everyone,
I am having computer problems so I won't check in as often as I'd like to. Missa--yes, I droped that in one week. And since then I have lost more weight. I went from 178 to 171 since I got off the Atkins diet. I haven't lost any further inches in my waist but I have lost a half inch in my thighs. I still feel great and my husband says he can see a big difference. He is very proud of me. I will keep you guys informed as much as I can. Take care of yourselves and have fun getting in shape.

Marcy--

I've done Body for Life. I lost about 40 lbs in the 12 weeks and I saw muscles that I NEVER ever saw on my own body... only on other people.

Keep your motivation and drive and follow the diet and exercise... It can work for you...

Are you taking any of the supplements?? Let us know how it's going... I'm very excited for you!!

Hey everyone,
Things are going great so far. I haven't noticed any dramatic changes yet but I feel great. And I started my first day today with my new membership to Gold's Gym. It was a great workout and I now know what I missed about going to a gym. It also helps motivate me even if I'm the only one in the gym because I see all that equipment and cardio machines and say to my self "this is a piece of cake, I can do it" I am looking forward to going back tomorrow. And if I win the BFL challenge then the first thing I'm going to do with my prize money is buy another membership to a gym. Gotta go for now. I have homework. I still haven't gotten my computer to work right yet either. Take care of yourselves.

Hey Marcy..

I have been doing the body for life program. I too was on Atkins and I felt AWFUL even though i lost alot really fast (15 lbs in 2 weeks) probably of muscle and water which pisses me right off.

My advice to u is to get the myoplex shakes. THey are sold at vitaglo.com 42 packs for 50-60 bucks. That is a great price, averaging around 1.06 a piece. Cant buy a meal for that price. They are great too for keeping your calories down and staying on track, plus u dont always have to prepare meals.

I have lost 5 lbs of fat and gained 1 lb of muscle, but have not seen scale weight come off much yet (But I dont go by that). I also have lowered my resting heart rate from 92 beats/min to 72 beats/min. I feel great.

A great support site that is simple but has all the information you would ever need (and has answered most all my questions) is www.hussman.org I love this site. There are alot of tricks to help you get better results.

Take care and good luck!

I did the body for life program and I am so pleased with the results. I went from 147 to 127 in 12 weeks. I am a diabetic with high blood pressure. I no longer have a blood pressure problem and the diabetes is under control. I will never take another shot or take another pill. It was the best thing I ever did for my self. By the way three years ago when I found out I had diabetes, I weighed in a 250lbs. Through diet exercise and proper eating habits I beat it and feel better now at 42 years old than I ever have. Keep the faith and follow the plan, it can be the best move you ever made. I plan to compete with my husband in May of 2003.
