Hello everyone. I joined a month or two ago and was highly motivated. Now I'm not doing anything.... again. I have had a dysthymic disorder (chronic depression) for 3 or 4 years now, and now I have recently been better, but now I have moved to bipolar. (Not yet, but I bet I will diagnosed bipolar next visit.)
Now I was really hardcore at first. Not with working out so much, but I really changed my diet and stuck with it for maybe.... 2 weeks, if that.
My question is, how does one who is bipolar stay motivated to do anything. For a few weeks I want to do everything, and then the next few I don't want to do anything. Any advice?

Yo dude...i know the shoes you're standing in all too well. I'm bipolar myself. If you aren't on medication yet, get on it...it'll help control the swings a little bit. However...if you really really wannt workout hardcore, you will. Somedays, i like you don't even wanna hear the word gym, but i Force myself to go. its the only thing that has kept me going...and it still keeps me going. Ya just gotta lower your shoulder and plow through it. Good days and bad days all come...just hang in there.

I'm on Prozac right now for the depression, and Trazadone to help me sleep.

First off get in the gym! I have had depression for over 15 years and the only thing that helps me is lifting. Second talk with you doc about other meds if what you have is not working do not be afraid to put your foot down with htem! LOL also studies have proven over and over that hardcore exercise and a good diet have just as much to do with good mental health as the meds do. Plus there are many on this site that fight the black beast of depression so feel free to talk with us.
