i need some good advice on taking protein. Im about 160lbs, and have a fast metabolism... im fighting 'not' to loose weight (muscle) but i want to build more... ive reached a point where i feel im not developing fast enough anymore and im looking at whey protein.
I take 1 shake after every workout with milk. I want to know what else i can mix the shake with because im getting sick of milk. How many times should i take it? for reference, I have a good power workout that i follow correctly (as possible) and a fast metabolism.
Thanks

many university studies have shown that a shake/meal with a 2:1 carb to protein ratio taken within 30 minutes of finishing a workout is the best way to combat catabolism. The carbs should be a blend of simple and complex, and the protein should be a whey. The carbs replenish the glycongen stores of the liver, allowing the protein to avoid being used for energy and instead begin the rehab of the muscle tissue.
As for the rest of the day, mix your proteins. Eat the usual (beef, chicken, fish, etc.), while your shakes should be made up of the slower acting proteins, such as milk and egg.
As far as holding on to your weight, dont do what a lot of people are doing lately and forgetting their carbs and fats.
hope that helps.......

A few things I have tried with the protein is to mix it in a bowl of oatmeal, pancake batter, just about anything that I could think of that seemed compatible with the taste. Good luck!
