Try a basic body beatdown:
For 1 hour straight alternate between 8-count bodybuilders, mountain climbers, pushups, squats, arm circles, situps, sharks, and jumping jacks.
One hour, dont stop, do about 20-30 of each then switch, dont even stop to get a drink during this. Try holding the postion during some of these excercises too, like up and down in the pushup for like a minute at a time. try half way up in the situp for two minutes. At the end you'll be exhausted. good cardio and muscle endurance, plus the variance in excercises keeps you going, do this twice a week and your body will definately harden up.
i.e. : 30 8-counts
3min of arm circles
30 mountain climbers
50 jumping jacks
20 pushups
1min of sharks
50 situps
30 squats
just repeat for an hour.

no water during this? are you nuts? This ain't the navy buddy, its a health sight........your giving good advine on to get someone to pass out or black out.

rehydrating is key to keeping your muscles firing.

How long have you been doing this? Have you ever passed out?

If you are trying for endurance and then strength, which this workout would imply, a circuit weight type workout would be more productive. To deprive yourself of water is downright silly, and very dangerous. Whoever designed this scenario should really re-think it.

Intensity is great, but you still have to be smart.

try it. it is safe. just make sure you are extremely hydrated first, i should have said that. beleive me, its not about getting cut or any bigger, but as far as muscle endurance and weight loss, its the way to go. or go ahead and drink water during, but you might cramp up.

if u are worried about passing out dont be. as long as you hydrate prior, i have done sessions like this for over 3 hours and not passed out. and had only one water break during it. i didnt pass out. the thing is it will go from such high intensity like 8-counts to low intensity like situps, and holding in different positions will give you a chance to catch your breath while still working your muscles.

You can cramp up from too much water. This usually happens to marathon runners.

I think it's a combination of reduced blood supply to the gut, and also the the physical movment of the stomach, because it's not a major problem with cycling.

I think if you have an isotonic drink it's less of a problem, which would definitely be advisable if you are exercising for 3 hours, to avoid catabolism.
