What are the best exercises for gaining strenght and improving the arm wrestling skills? How much can arm wrestling tell of your overall strength? For example, if somebody beats you at arm wrestling-does it mean that theat person has more overall strength than you or not? There was somebody who bea me at arm wrestling, so my goal is to come back stronger and try o beat him!!!!

Arm wrestling is as much mechanics as strength. Do not arm wrestle, one of the easiest ways to get hurt for a very long time. I have folks wanting to arm wrestle me all the time, things said like I never wrestled a big arm guy before and stuff, they have nothing to lose. Be careful.

Having had rotator cuff surgery I'll say arm wrestling puts the cuff at risk. It took 9 months to get past the pain. I'll let you know 9 months from now if the doc was right about the 18 months he said it would take to get back to 100%. You could just box. Only puts the nose at risk.

lol Im pretty good at arm wrestling. And I agree it is mechanics aswell as strength, I mean I beat guys twice my size, some people back in school even thought I had metal bones implants, lol. And I never knew you can be injured from arm wrestling, use to do it everyday at school cos people wont stop challenging me, the worst that ever happened was my arms started shaking so I quit for like 2 weeks. Then again I think both guys has to be incredibly strong to injure each other seriously. BTW anyone seen that stallone arm wrestling film? prolly the only sly film I aint seen.
And oh yea, I think forearms & biceps aid the most in arm wrestling, forearms to put the opponent down and biceps to drag his arm closer for a advantage.not sure though.

i think it has to do with arm length and wrist strength. if you try and beat a guy that has a forearm that is 3 inches longer than you it is a struggle. and if you can bend his wrist down then it usually means that the win is yours.

to train for arm wrestling is to train with the right exercise. the best way to train is to have a weight on a pulley. run a cable(or rope) to a weight through a pulley, best if above shoulder heigth, and grab hold of the end of cable and arm wrestle. here's a rough drawing:

make sure you have sets and reps just like a real workout for good results.

actually biceps are the last of the 3 important ones. hand is most important, gives you a huge advantage if you can position the opponents hand to your advantage. Then wrist and forearm, wrist for also positioning and not being pushed back, if ur wrist is pushed back its almost impossible to win. I guess alot of the muscle required is coming from the forearms to keep your hand up there. The biceps is simply to keep a good overall body position and hold your arm on the surface.

Im pretty similar to Hellscream, i have never lost, ive beaten guys twice my size...
i have arm wrestles all the time, the way to prevent injury is to do a proper warm up. Sometimes, if i skipped warming up, i would pull my bicep tendon, or injure my wrist. IMO, to be a good arm wrestler, you need strong forarms, wrist, strong grip and biceps. Also, its good to learn the moves.. like hook, top roll, etc.. as these can help you win.
