Yes, this is probably true. But, don't look too much at carbs as the enemy, they are needed. Just if you are trying to lose, that is too high an amount, for undoubtedly alot of them will be "bad carbs". For losing, I usually advocate a 50/20/30 p/c/f ratio. This a tried and proven ratio. You can always adjust as you go, in fact you should, but this is a good starting place.
A set formula is used in most calorie compositions on computers, and it is hard to be correct for everyone. There are so many factors involved, and sometimes these need to be tweaked to fit the individual.
