I am a 48yo female. I have lost 54 lbs and have about 50 more to go. I do cardio for 60 mins/3-4 times a week and now want to start strength training. I have an exercise program from this site but I am not sure what lb weights to start with and when to increase the weight. Thank you for any help yu can give me.

You may want to utilize the one rep max calculator, and go from there. Are you familiar with the pyramid philosophy?

I would just start with the smallest weight, and if it's too light, I just know to increase it next time I perform the exercise.

I am not familiar with the pyramid philosophy or the one rep max calculator. I am so new to this that any information is helpful. Thanks!

I believe a pyramid set is when you start with a high number of reps with a light weight, the next set of reps will be lower in number and heavier in weight, and so on and so on.
