I have just started using this website this week but started an exercise and diet program about six weeks ago. I am interested in reducing my body fat percentage (namely my spare tire) and increasing muscle definition. Currently, I am doing 30 minutes of cardio five to six days a week in the mornings before breakfast, I am doing weight training 5 days a week in the evenings(I am following my FT workout now) and I follow my weight training with about 20 minutes of cardio (except when I lift legs). I have lost about 20 lbs in the last six weeks. I just want to make sure that I am not overtraining my body. I know that results come with time and that nothing happens overnight. I am pleased with the results so far but I want to make sure that I am doing the best thing for my body. Thanks.

So on most days you are like doing 50 mins of cardio? If so that is fine as long as you are eating enough protein to keep what muscle you have. Doing that much cardio along witht he weight training will not let you build muscle easily. You might loose some weight though so it is a trade off...I would cut 1-2 days of 50 min cardio and do like 3-4 30 hardcore sessions of it per week plus the weight lifting and eat a lot of protein and see the results! Other wise you may indeed overtrain

Personally, I think five days a week for weight training is excessive. Even if you split up body parts sufficiently and allow enough time for your muscles to rest, you're still overtaxing your nervous system. I think the quality of your workout will degrade over time. Don't look for instant results. Be secure in the fact that the process will take time.
I also think that cardio before breakfast is one of the most catabolic activities you can do. Make sure you have food in you before ANY activity, even if it's just some juice.
