Yes, it's ME! Your friendly neighbourhood newbie ;)

I was surfing around the net, and yet once again I decided to check the msg board here.

Now, a sudden question popped into my mind:
"How does all these people find out how much calories, carbs, protein etc they're eating during each meal/day?"

Sure, the figures are probably printed out on most packages - but I wonder how you can eat say 200g of protein and such when told that's what you should eat ;) I don't think anyone is actually weighing the foods :D

Thanks in advance,

Lethal Banana ^^

I usually can get a rough guess of what I get by different foods that I eat because I measure most things a lot. I usually have about 16oz of milk with a scoop of protien (22g per scoop?) and for breakfast I usually have a cup of oatmeal with 2 cups of milk and a medium banana. Of course with my other meals I can't get any close numbers but I usually put a close guess out there and try to go over 1g of protien per lb of my weight. Try to guess on the amounts and then you can use something like ft's nutriton tracker or fitday.com to get a rough estimate of where your at with your meals. Usually a notebook would be easier then online forms though. Overall though you probably don't have to EXACTLY hit the number given to you (it does say something like 10% variance allowed or something like that doesn't it).

well for instance if you need 200g of protein you could eat tuna one can has at least 33g per can. One chiken breast has like 30 or so as well, so that part is easy it never really changes once you get the protein down you go from there so at 6 meals divide 200 into that and you get about 3 grams a meal not to hard to get....
