I have heard conflicting messages about breathing either in or out when contracting abdominal muscles. Some people say that if you breathe out when you contract then the muscles will pertrude outward therefore defeating the purpose of doing abdominal excercise to flatten your stomach. I have also heard that you should always breathe out coming up or contracting your abdominal muscles. Which one is true??
