Abs are like any other muscle. They need time to rest and can be over trained like any other muscle so give them time to rebuild if you want them to grow.

although they do need to recover just like every other muscle, abdominals have a much greater rate of recovery. Still, I would never train them more than 5x a week. Also, remember one of the cardinal rules of training, never train a sore muscle.

Yes, I try to train my abs 5-6 days a week, but only with heavy weight resistance 3 days a week. The seated natilus machine is 1 of my favorites, I go as heavy as I can for 15-20 reps, at least 3 sets. And then go 2 the slant board and use a 25lb plate. Folowed by a few hanging leg raises, and hang n side raises. The off days I do some tapes just 4 abs like ty bo, and Tony L. I also do lots off diff veriations crunches, rockies, and sometimes use a ball, u name it.
During the supperbowl my wife did 1000 crunches on the exersize ball while watch n the game. Do you think shes sick? If she is, well she sure looks good.

Resist the urge to train them constantly. No more than 3 times per week is optimal, with resistance, 2-4 different exercises, not a thousand. Training them any other time whether you use weight or not is nonsense, it will get you nowhere. At best all it will do is burn some calories, and at worst they will be overtrained and will not grow. You will never see that coveted "six pack".
