I read in Fitnress magazine that abs work only builds ab muscle. If I'm just going for the flat stomach (no nocessarely a 6 pack) should I still do ab work? I noticed that when I did ab work I started to loose the weist line. I'd love to have a defined stomach but not if it will cause me to loose the weist line. What do you think?

I was reading 'Muscle & Fitness' and i came across a section called 'Ask arnold'. Yes...It was the man himself! He says that if you don't want your waist to bulk up then NEVER do any weighted ab work.
You should continue with the ab work because it is so important to have that 'stable' core to your body - not just for when you're lifting weights, but for everday moving, and to support your back. Do you have a showing 6-pack? Maybe, to keep up the strength, but stay slimmed, you could do fewer crunches etc?
Also, and i'm completely guessing at this, if you, hypothetically did no ab work whatsoever, but had a perfectly flat stomach, then wouldn't the stomach be really flabby and untoned to the touch? It might also move like a flabbier stomach would.
I wouldn't worry until the 6-pack actually started to show, but don't stop the ab work altogether.
Sorry, that was a bit rambled! Hope it gives u a rough idea! Hopefully, the others can b more specific!

Yes , continue to do ab work, but weight free. Crunches are good, leg lifts, just keep the weights away. Diet is also a huge part to flattening the stomach.

Yes Lisa said the golden word; diet is the key to a flat tummy.
Muscles tone, diet flattens....... (o;
Good luck!
