They say message boards are a good place to gripe a bit. Well today I will say my motivation is at it's lowest.
About every 30 days or so I take measurements to chart my progress. This morning I was very disappointed to see absolutley no change in my measurements.
A year ago I set my goal to loose weight and tone up. Within 6 months I was at a good point and decided to change my program to build mass. I am at my 6 month point of the program and I am not happy with my results. Maybe I have higher expectations, but the damn tape measure is not moving!
Take my biceps for instance, in 6 months I have barely seen a 1/2 an inch. My calfs maybe a 1/4 inch and my chest about an inch. From what others have told me this is not much of a gain for 6 months.
Today there was no change in any measurements from the last month. Where is all this hard work going, out the window!!!
My program is Monday through Friday. I do one body part a day as follows:
M- Chest/Abs
T- Back
W- Legs/Abs
Th- Shoulders
F- Arms
Sat-Sun- Rest
I do the basic heavy weights at 4-8 reps a set with 3-4 sets per excercise. I normally do 4-5 excercises per body part.
I eat like a damn animal. I put down 3500-3800 cals a day. High protein, complex carbs and only good fats. I supplement with a good multi, whey protein mix and creatine. I eat 6 meals a day, which by the way I spend two freakin hours every Sunday afternoon preparing for the week.
I am starting to feel as if all this work to build mass is not worth it. Maybe I should just go back to eating 3 good meals a day and continue a normal workout routine just to keep in shape.
Don't get me wrong, I have undergone a complete body transformation from how I looked 14 months ago but it's mostly muscle tone.
I have been working like mad to add some mass but I am not seeing it. I know it does not happen overnight, but come on a 1/4 inch in the calf in 6 months.
Maybe it's just my body's way of saying "hey we are just not built for muscle mass".
Well thanks for listening. I just had to vent. If anyone has any suggestions or feedback, I am open to anything.
Sorry for the long post.

Are you making progress in the amount of weight you lift? You mentioned calves and bis. Those are really hard to grow. How is your waist compared to 14 months ago??
How do you feel??????

Geez man, you expect way too much of yourself man. This takes patience and time. You're doing fine. What are ya gonna do?...Give up?...NO, so keep going. After 14 months, you clainmed to have undergone a body transformation...are you expecting to look like a muscle-mag guy? Welcome to the reality of hard work and dedication. The pay-off happens well beyond 14 months. It takes years. I understand you are discouraged, but you need to stop measuring and looking at yourself under a microscope and just let it happen. If you stop now, you'll never know.

Believe me I am not going to give up and I know this takes time. But to see absolutley no change in a month is disappointing. For instance let's take my body weight, I am currently 193lbs. I have been this weight since around Thanksgiving. Actually I have lost a pound during this time. I am eating like mad, my damn monthly food bill is going to catch up to my mortgage soon and I can not increase my body weight. I know you have to determine your caloric maintenance and then add calories from there but if I have to do more than 3800 a day, it's not going to happen. I have been making strength gains and I do feel good. It just gets frustrating. Maybe your right, I should stop measuring. Thanks.
