I am 6', 168lbs, 17 years old and would like to know approximately what a good bicep size would be for me. Right now, they are just under 14in and I would really like to know what a good size would be. Not average though. Any help would be appreciated.

i dunno man........sounds liek to me you just want a ego boost or somthing..........train well and train everything and i promise they'll get bigger.......but please PLEASE train your whole body not just bi's and chest.......very few realize that ur body well only allow u to get so " outta porportion" and it won't grow. (ex).if u bench press 400lbs and can only squate 225......that means ur legs are very underdevoloped and ur upper body is huge....and ur bench won't get much higher...train everything so u look portionate

BTW how could I want an ego booster when my arms are puny?I need an ego boost. And I want to be stronger for me so I can do things I want, and to be able to protect myself without actually using the muscles.

I used to study Martial Arts, yes. But I'm not the violent type, so I just want some "Visual Credibility" that sez "U mess with me u gonna be eating dirt", but w/o actually having to make them.

ahh your ripe age of 17 shows through. Not to sound like a shmuck but you are into it for the wrong reasons. Why do you want to intimidate people so bad? I stand 6'4 and weigh in at 377 and it bothers me that I intimidate people. Well good luck to you!

Ahh I forgot I study ishin ryu. I have found the teaching to be true the best path to peace is to avoid the situations where you would have to defend. other wise dont go looking for trouble. Also ego will always be a down fall.

I dont wanna intimidate anybody.I just dont want to have to fight. And once again, its not for ego, its what I want. I feel uncomfortable as little as I am.I mean if I flex the 6pack I can see my entire ribcage. I'm truly too skinny. I wanna put on about 20-25lbs of muscle. By the way, has anyone tried peanut butter to gain weight? Ive been told this works but from only one person that actually did it. Anyone else?

Im not shure if peanut butter will make you gain weight but it's high in protein vitamin e and lineoleic acid. You could try a good weight gainer formula to help with that. The old joke in school was mcdonalds cheese burgers and milkshakes.

I took karate as well. It was great for me, until i injured my knees. I wish I was still in it now though. I really regret quitting just because of that. You're right andrew about the strength, I realize that but still, i mean, is 14 inches above average for my size or is it scrawny or average or what??

i am on a PB diet. it will help you gain muscle mass, not just general weight/fat. PB is high in protein and that's where you should b getting your weight from(muscle mass) if you want to look good. but you have to eat a lot of it for that to happen. i go through almost 2 2lbs jars of PB a week, that just keeps me at a little above average size.

Yes sorry. In order to add size to your arms you need a few things. One is eating enough food. Two is training right, stay with the basics, barbell curls, hammer curls, dumbbell curls and preacher dumbbell curls. Third is resting. Fourth is time, adding inches is not a quick thing. Fifth is adding squats, deadlifts, bentrows, and chins to you workouts. I grow about 1/2 inch a year on my arms. The differenc between me and others is that I do those other exercises all the time, and most do not.

jdelts- I dont think there is anything wrong with wanting biceps bigger than 14. How big are YOUR biceps?? If you realized where I am coming from then you would understand. I was always the scrawny kid, never lifted weights in school, always got picked one, alwsy got pushed around by my older brother. Until I started working at a grocery store, my arms were probably only about 11 but they were like Jello. Now they are pretty hord but I just want them bigger. That's all.

Jesusfrk, if you really think about it, when you measure your arms did you know that 2/3 of that size is really your triceps and not biceps? Increase your tricep size and your arm measurements go up even bigger!

jesusfrk1, do your full body workouts like Mutt says. Eat and rest like everybody says. Develop mental toughness. Being tough, sensitive, sensual and strong is 99% mental. Its mostly a head thing. Be tough enough to be patient and it will come.

jesusfrk1 I know what it was like to be pushed around and picked on because I was the fat kid!!! you normal thin people picked on. Even in school at 6'4 320lbs i was pushed around. size means nothing it's attitude. Some of the toughest kick rear end guys I know are short and wirey. As for tri's do push downs, dips, skull crushers and so on

Mmailbohm....Its funny how you associate normal with thin...its sad that you viewed other people this way just because you were overweight. It wasn't fair to you and it wasn't your fault. I pity bullies and what they stand for. Look at the bright side, its because of people's own insecurities that make them offensive/bullies. They find the societal "easy target" and get there satisfaction by emptying out their anxieties on them. the US is the most overweight country in the world yet it is a stigma in this country that overweight people are mentally and physically inferior...what a hypocritical country. Sorry, just venting. F'm All mmailbohm!!!

I wasn't fat and I didn't pick on fat people. Most of the fat people picked on me for being so skinny. I was just a runt, and I feel like I still am. And, yes, jdelts, it does seem that way. But not just for fat people. People like myself , who are puny, are also thought of as inferior because they are not physically strong. Both ends of the spectrum had to be emotionally and metally strong in oreder to take crap from the jerks, bullies, conceited pricks, etc.

That is the bad thing about highschool...people are harsh...even if you are slightly different or gifted in any way-they jump at any chance to offend or joke you....no matter what it's for! It's sad that we live in such an advanced society and this behavior is still just as commonplace as someone being courteous to another individual. Sorry this type of stuff makes me angry..haha.

I've been in both sides of the fence actually. During my jr. high and 2 years into high school I was "THE FAT KID" Kids use to put spoons under my chest and bend them quickly to act as if my chest bent them rude bastards. It wasnt nice then I lost all my weight went from around 200 to 115 then I was the short scrawny kid who people picked on it was a lose/lose situation for me but now im at 155 and feel good (look good to) But im still kind of the little guy. like dhurt said it sucks people are still like this but this is one of those things one can overcome only mentally because it is going to be everywhere.

you need a lot of carbs if you want big motha muscles... if you go to the gym with an empty stomach, your body will burn the muscles you already have for fuel, making your trip to the gym a complete waste of time... so go high in protein and carbs... work hard at the gym adn you should be seeing your arms grow bigger than your thighs in no time... kind of... =P

ioioio-Im assuming you are a lightweight. Yes your arm size is ok at your age im sure as you hit 15 and beyond they will continue to grow but you got to train them if you want to get them big and train them properly along with training the rest of your body. My arms are only 13" not big but average size they look good though.

I am 6'4" with 15.5" inch Bi's, but for my size I think they are pretty normal. If you are 6' I would not think 17" is unreasonable if you really work at it.

I think 17's would be a little bit large considering my physical bone structure. I am looking for 15 to 16 though. I think thats a fairly reasonable goal. they are about 13.5 now but they are just so plain. I mean i know there are guys smaller and all but I want to look better. Ive had ppl tell me that if I put on a little more muscle and weight that i would and I feel that way also. Im actually pretty solid all over but its just not enough. Ive been trying for awhile now but I know that if I keep on keeping on Ill get what i want..
