My husband and I have made great progress since working out together, but that is about to end for awhile. He is taking a job overseas (yes, in the desert!)for the next year. He is worried about losing a lot of his newly developed muscle since he doesn't know if he will have access to any type of gym or equipment. He does know there is a pool. Can you guys help us make up a workout that uses mostly your own bodyweight and will include the major muscle groups? I know there's pushups, dips, crunches, squats and lunges, but if you know of others I'd appreciate your help. He will be working 12 hour shifts and probably 7 days a week at first, but he should have time for a workout. He is worried too, about not having much control over his food choices as meals are provided. Thanks for any input.

One thing he needs to watch out for is the rich food. They got a lot of it! My buddies father went down east to work and he was in great shape (swam like 50 laps every morning), but when he got down there I guess all that rich and tasty food got the best of him for the first year (gained about 30 lbs).
If he is able too, he should just pick his meals wisely.

Oh, and if hes planning to try running outdoors... He may not be able too. It can get crazy hot over there. Some of the compounds have air conditioned sidewalks (no lie) just to keep the people cool!
So hopefully they will have a gym. I bet they will if hes working on a compound.

So far the temperature ranges look pretty close to here in Arizona. He won't know what is there until he gets there and looks around.

Here is a good workout for you both using at home without weights. You will need simple things like bands and a swiss ball. Read, then scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click on the exercises. It will explain how to do each. Good luck, hope this helps. Itis under womens fitness, but can easily be adapted for men also. http://www.womenfitness.net/programs/strength/stpht.htm

Victoria -
Nothing to add about the workout, just hope that you're doing okay. It must be tough to know you'll be far apart for a year.

Thanks Kirby, that's the part I'm trying not to think about.
