Hey everyone - I'm new to ft and I love it! My question is about lowering my body fat percentage...I have taken those online fat % calculators where they measure the wrist, forearm, waist etc. and it said I am at 26% fat. (I'm female, 16 years old.) I am 5'6", and weigh 135 lbs. My exercise is about an hour every morning, six days a week, combining cardio and strength training. I have just begun HIIT training. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you very much!

sunshine, you should be taking a couple of days off a week, you're quite possibly overtraining. Next, get plugged in to the nutrition program at ft. I love using this database to keep track of my workouts and my caloric intake, the guidelines are invaluble. Set your goals and never stop until they're attained. This is a mental as well as a physical challenge. The nutrition prograsm is important because the first mistake most people make when trying to cut body fat is eat way too little and cause a starvation response in their metabolism. This is about balance.

AND you need patience!!! You're on the right way, you'll see. Just stay serious and focused and you'll get the needed results.
Very best luck to you!

The biggest thing I tell beginner's is to do your research. Losing fat is much easier when you understand how the human body functions. Knowledge is a powerful tool. Good luck and welcome to FT!

My advice is to get your body fat measure by calipers. Measuring by how round you are is not very accurate. We use the tape measure in the military to measure body fat and I was at 26% by that method and only about 21% the caliper method. Just a suggestion.
