So what's the simple truth? Is it really more reps/less weight for definition and less reps/more weight for bulk? Why would anyone want bulk over nice cut muscles? Somewhere in my program it said something about adding mass (bulk) first, "as a foundation on which you can later add definition." Is that how it has to work? Can't I slowly add lean muscle mass?

Hey! Some of us want bulk!!! Ok and maybe a little definition would not hurt. Yes generally the more weigth and less reps you usually gain mass, and vice versa. But If you really have not done lifting before you should work at getting the form down right and buliding a goodly amount of muscle mass befor eworrying about cutting up. Man I think you get the award for the most asked questions in one day! WHEW!!!!

The majority of the men I know that want to add mass but still be defined, usually add the mass and then cut down from there. They will take a creatine supplement until they get the size that they want and then once they have achieved that, they worry about cutting it down. Hope this helps a little.
