Is it absolutely neccesary to take some kind of supplement if you expect to build some moderate muscle mass? I'm not asking for much - I'm a beginner who just wants to look like one of those pretty boys in those posters young chicks have on thier bedroom walls - ya know, like maybe Brad Pitt in Fight Club during that scene when he's screwing "Marla?" and catches the little guy outside his bedroom door. I know muscles are made of protein, so don't I need to eat more meat to grow more meat?

You don't have to take any supplements, though just about everyone should take a multivitamin. Sure you could eat more meat, but the type of meat is important, it should be lean. What you really oughta do is just take a look at FTs nutrition guide and it will give you some idea of what you should be eating.

good point, lumina. just remember this, bretto: they are called supplements for a reason. your regimen must be based in whole foods. if you need the extra cals, vitamins, etc., these products "supplement" what already should be an excellent diet. alot of people try to rely on them as the foundation of training, and that just wont work.
